My story

A home cook with a long memory for bad buys.

I am not a restaurant chef. I am a home cook who hosts often, cooks most nights and has bought enough disappointing kitchenware to know what to look for.

Velvetable is where I write that down. Each guide covers one part of the kitchen or the table with seven picks, all different, and I say plainly what each one is made of, who it suits and what it won’t do.

Every pick links to a live Amazon US listing that was checked for an in-stock offer. The product card shows Amazon’s current price, so what you see is what you pay. If a listing disappears, I replace it.

House rules.

  1. I

    Seven, all different

Seven picks per guide and no colour or size variants padding the list.

  2. II

    Materials first

Every review names the steel, the clad, the glaze or the glass, because that is what decides how long it lasts.

  3. III

    Live prices only

I never type a price. The card on each guide pulls Amazon’s current price and availability.
